Interview Design



  • Each director to have 3-4 interviewees which he/she will interview about every 2 months

  • Interviewees to be people whom the director has an affinity with. Does not necessarily have to fabricate a mixed culture. Whatever is natural and spontaneous.

  • The interviewee experience of the project -



    • enjoyable, reflective, awakening, perspective

    • note how actual experience aligns with desire

Defining Project Identity and Project Brand


  • We want to have the experience of Fun, Sharing, Professionalism and Creativity. When we conduct the interviews, we want to feel related to the interviewee and have them enjoy the experience and continually remind them of what is most important to them.

What the interview process looks like for What's Important Project

In a collaboration meeting the following was defined to help get the process started.





  • Show up at the interview location. Be sure to come prepared.

  • Non-interview questions you ask are -
    "Think for 30 seconds to one minute without speaking, what is most important to you; what are you happy with; what upsets you about the world as it is."

  • After the silent moment, conduct the interview with these questions:

    1. What are you most happy with?

Rising as a Phoenix

Originally the idea of Ken Chan in Perth Western Australia, the What's Important Project was an attempt to capture the everyday thoughts of what's important to people around the world and document them in short videos.

Overwhelmed by events the project did not get past the first 4 videos. This "network" is an attempt to raise it from the ashes and see if there is any interest in gathering video interviews on the subject.
